... Just started in dslr one yr ago-nikon d60 + sony alpha. both camera with 200mm lens. lots of nature photos and was considering a longer lens. saw the reveiw for the tamron 500 and decided to go for a try.
tamron is decent but heavy. AF does not work with nikon d40 or 60! MF is ok. tried it on a d50 without problems. tried a 75-300 and really like it.
bottom line-suggest 300mm lens. 500 is great but does not work w/ nikon d40 or 60. it is also heavy. happy photos. :) ...
